How do I configure my Yahoo group so it’s files are public?

Hydroxy Group
nimblebee1 asked:

Right now, when anyone goes to my Yahoo group (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Hydroxy_Research_Group/) they have to join to be able to view files, photos, messages, etc.

That is not so good! I want to make it where anyone can come to the Yahoo group site and the information is public, and anyone who wants to can view without joining the group.

I could not figure out how to make this happen, but when browsing through Yahoo groups, I noticed some of the groups were listed as “Public” and others as “members only.”

Thanks for your help!

Your message archives can be made public. Groups with public message archives are listed in the directory as “Public”. Files and Photos CAN NOT be made public. That is a limitation that Yahoo has set in their system.

To make your message archives public:
Click “Management” on the left side of your group’s page.
    Under “Group Settings”, click “Messages”.
Next to “Posting and Archives”, click “Edit”.
Under “Posting Options”, DO NOT set “Who can post” to “Anyone” unless you wish to start a SPAM farm.
Under “Archive Options”, set “Access” to “Anyone”.
Scroll to the bottom and click the “Save Changes” button.
